I joined the DArT group in 2001 as an IT specialist. I have been mainly involved in three major tasks: (1) development of DArTdb - our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for all DArT data storage; (2) development of DArTSoft - our software for data analysis and (3) explaining how to pronounce my name!
Before 2001, I worked for CAMBIA's transgenomics project, developing LIMS for tracking plant transformations. Most of my "pre-bioinformatics" life was filled with geography/GIS related work.
I graduated from the Faculty of Geography and Regional Sciences, Warsaw University, Poland in 1994, obtaining a M.Sc. degree in Landscape Geography. In 1992 I took part in the TEMPUS student exchange program and studied Environmental Sciences at The University of Greenwich, London. After graduation I worked for Neokart GIS developing GIS applications for hydrology, environment protection and civil defense. I spent a few months working on the Siberian Tiger Conservation project at the Landscape Dynamics Lab, University of Idaho. I also designed and developed a GIS database of Polish Statistical Regions with geocoding street level data working for former Claritas Polska (currently Acxiom Polska) from 1998 to 2001.
After hours I enjoy mountain walks, photography and philosophy.
